The North’s eleven Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) will join for a summit on 5-6 November to increase efforts to lobby the government to get behind the region’s clean growth potential.
The Northern Powerhouse 11 (NP11) is made up of all the region's LEPs, which are partnerships between local authorities and local businesses.
The conference in Hull on 5-6 November will aim to showcase the innovation, leadership and opportunities across the North in energy, decarbonisation and clean growth.
A northern-wide Energy & Clean Growth Strategy will also be unveiled, setting out ways the North will collaborate and work together going forward.
The ultimate ambition is to attract government and international business investment and demonstrate that the region should be at the heart of the UK’s push to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
Lord Haskins, chair of conference hosts the Humber LEP, said: “I am delighted that eleven Northern LEPs are coming together to organise this event. This demonstrates that, through collaboration, we can become a world leading region in energy and clean growth.”
Chair of the Greater Manchester LEP Mike Blackburn added: “Here in Greater Manchester we have great businesses and universities that are at the forefront of innovation in low-carbon energy and clean growth technologies. This conference is a chance to give these organisations an international platform to promote their work and secure new opportunities in the UK and across the world.”
